Creating an alert
- Choose the alert type. The form lists the alert types available, such as PCR alerts and open-interest alerts.
- Choose the instrument type and universe. Select the type of financial instrument, then scan one contract universe or every instrument by selecting Monitor all, which evaluates every instrument in the chosen market universe.
- Set the threshold. The value that triggers the alert, such as a PCR level, a minimum absolute OI percentage move or a score.
- Choose delivery. Alerts can be delivered to Telegram once you have set your Telegram webhook URL in your user preferences.
- Monitor it. The alerts list shows your alerts and their delivery status, and you can search and filter by status.
How some conditions are measured
The form explains each condition beside its threshold. The details matter, because they decide what a trigger means.
| Condition | How it is measured |
|---|---|
| Change since the session start | Compares the latest snapshot with the first valid snapshot of the trading session. |
| Change over a recent window | Uses the nearest completed snapshot at least 5 minutes earlier, or 6 minutes for 3-minute stock data. |
| Open-interest move | A minimum absolute OI percentage move is required to trigger. |
| Futures OI spurt | Triggers when the futures OI spurt score, from 0 to 100, crosses above your value on the latest expiry. |
| Price crossing the highest OI strike | Uses the previous snapshot's highest OI strike for the nearest expiry, and alerts on a price crossing once per stock per day. |
Alerts are only as good as their definitions, so read the helper text under each field before you set a value.
Setting thresholds that help
- Start with a few alerts. Many alerts on a broad universe quickly become noise you ignore.
- Use a threshold tied to a reason. Decide in advance what you would do when it fires.
- Prefer meaningful moves. A tiny OI percentage move on a small base can trigger often without meaning much, so combine a percentage with context.
- Check delivery. If notifications do not arrive, confirm your Telegram webhook is configured and check the delivery status in the alerts list.
Limits
An alert reports that a condition was met in the data at the time of evaluation. Snapshots arrive at intervals, so an alert can lag the market, and a fast move can pass between snapshots. Alerts are not recommendations, and a trigger is a prompt to look at the chart and the relevant tool, not an instruction. See the PCR guide and the OI Spurts guide for how the underlying readings behave, and the futures buildup guide for futures OI context.
