Price Crosses Above 200 DMA
Close crosses above the 200-day simple moving average within the last 2 sessions on at least average volume. Fresh long-term trend reclaim, not stocks that have been above it for months.
About This Scan
The 200-day moving average is the line many traders use to separate long-term uptrends from downtrends. This scan lists NSE stocks whose daily close moved from at or below the 200-day simple moving average to above it within the last two sessions, on volume at or above the stock's own average and turnover of at least Rs 5 Cr. It shows fresh crosses only, not stocks that have been above the line for months.

How To Use This Scan
- •Check the slope of the 200 DMA itself. A cross against a still-falling average is weaker than one where the average has flattened or turned up.
- •See whether the next session holds above the average. A close back below it makes the cross a false start.
- •Compare with the sector and the index. A stock reclaiming its 200 DMA inside a weak market needs more caution. Its mirror is Price Crosses Below 200 DMA.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is the 200 DMA the same as the 200 SMA?
Yes. DMA means daily moving average. This scan uses the 200-day simple moving average (SMA 200) of the closing price.
What does crossing above the 200 DMA mean?
The close moved from at or below the 200-day average to above it. Many traders treat this as an early sign that a long-term trend may be turning up.
How fresh is the cross?
It happened on the latest daily candle or the one before it. Stocks that crossed earlier are not listed.
