Price Crosses Above 50 DMA
Close crosses above the 50-day simple moving average within the last 2 sessions on 1.2x volume. A fresh medium-term trend reclaim, not stocks that have been above it for weeks.
About This Scan
The 50-day moving average is the line swing traders use to judge the medium-term trend. This scan lists NSE stocks whose daily close moved from at or below the 50-day simple moving average to above it within the last two sessions, on at least 1.2 times normal volume and Rs 5 Cr of last-session turnover. It shows fresh crosses only, not stocks that have been above the line for weeks. The mirror scan is Price Crosses Below 50 DMA. For the long-term line, see Price Crosses Above 200 DMA.

How To Use This Scan
- •Check the slope of the 50 DMA and where the stock sits against the 200 DMA. A cross above a rising 50 DMA that is itself above the 200 DMA has a stronger backdrop.
- •See whether the next session holds above the average. A close back below it makes the cross a false start.
- •Place the stop below the average or the recent swing low. This scan has not been back-tested for an edge.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is the 50 DMA the same as the 50 SMA?
Yes. DMA means daily moving average. This scan uses the 50-day simple moving average (SMA 50) of the closing price.
What does crossing above the 50 DMA mean?
The close moved from at or below the 50-day average to above it. Traders treat it as an early sign that the medium-term trend may be turning up.
How fresh is the cross?
It happened on the latest daily candle or the one before it. Stocks that crossed earlier are not listed.
