Interpreting futures sector continuation

Continuation compares today’s dominant price-and-OI behavior with the prior session for contracts grouped by sector. A higher continuation rate shows that more constituents are maintaining the same buildup or unwinding regime.

Review sector breadth, intensity, day-over-day OI and the leading contracts together. Strong sector readings are more credible when several liquid constituents participate instead of one contract dominating the score.

Which F&O sectors have follow-through, not just a pop

Sector Continuation compares sector moves with OI changes and the breadth of participating futures contracts. Constituent details help distinguish a broad sector move from one concentrated in a few names.

Review the score inputs, observation period and contributing contracts, then compare price structure and rollover effects. A continuation score ranks a rule-based profile; it does not measure the probability that the next session will follow through. A small sector or a heavily weighted constituent can have an outsized effect on the aggregate.

What makes a sector move high-quality for continuation?

Three things together: open interest expanding alongside price (new positions, not just covering), persistence across multiple sessions or intraday checkpoints rather than a single spike, and breadth — several constituent futures confirming rather than one heavyweight doing all the work. The continuation score weighs all three and the ranking is sortable by each component.

How is reversal risk measured here?

Reversal risk flags rise when a sector's move shows exhaustion markers: OI falling while price still advances (covering-driven move), participation narrowing to fewer contracts, or price extension far beyond what its persistence pattern supports. Flagged sectors are not automatic fades, but they are where continuation bets deserve tighter invalidation.

Can I see which futures are driving a sector?

Yes — every ranked sector expands to list its top confirming futures with their individual price, OI and volume contributions, so you can verify whether the sector story is broad-based or carried by a single name.
