Start with price and open-interest direction to separate long buildup, short buildup, short covering and long unwinding. Confirm the signal with volume participation rather than treating a price move alone as conviction.
Compare leaders, laggards and sector continuation together. Broad agreement across contracts is generally more useful than an isolated move, while a price/OI divergence can warn that participation is weakening or positions are being closed.
One dashboard for the NSE futures market
The Futures Dashboard brings together price movers, OI increases and decreases, volume activity and available sector comparisons. It helps locate active contracts before opening a detailed futures or options view.
Compare panels using the same observation time and examine the expiry and constituent mix behind an aggregate move. Price gains with rising OI and gains with falling OI describe different patterns, but neither establishes who initiated trades. Check volume, rollover activity and price levels when developing a shortlist.
What does a futures dashboard show that a normal gainers list does not?
Gainers lists rank by price only. The futures dashboard adds open-interest change and volume next to every move, so each leader is instantly classifiable — fresh positioning, short covering or thin drift — and sector aggregation shows whether moves are broad or isolated. That context is usually the difference between a trend day and a head-fake.
How do I read OI movers on the dashboard?
Open-interest movers list the contracts with the largest additions or reductions in outstanding contracts. Rising OI with rising price means new longs; rising OI with falling price means new shorts; falling OI in either direction means positions closing. The largest OI additions often mark the contracts that will dominate the next few sessions.
Is the futures dashboard live during market hours?
Yes — during NSE trading hours the dashboard refreshes continuously, and the last-update timestamp on each panel confirms freshness. Outside market hours it shows the most recent session's final state.
Does the dashboard cover MCX commodities?
Yes. Index futures, the F&O stock universe and MCX commodity futures (crude oil, gold, silver, natural gas) are all included, so commodity rotation against equities is visible in the same view.
