5-Day High Breakout (Weekly High Break)
Close above the highs of each of the previous 5 candles, about one trading week on the daily chart, on 1.2x volume. A short-term range breakout. Liquid stocks only (Rs 5 Cr+).
About This Scan
A close above the highs of the last five candles is a short-term range breakout: on the daily chart it means the stock is trading above its highest price of the past trading week. This scan lists NSE stocks whose close is above each of the previous five highs, on at least 1.2 times normal volume and Rs 5 Cr of last-session turnover. The week is the last five sessions, not Monday to Friday. The mirror scan is 5-Day Low Breakdown. For a longer range, see 20-Day High Breakout.

How To Use This Scan
- •Check the close, not just an intraday break. A close above the five-day high is the stronger signal.
- •Look at what is just above. A breakout into a 52-week high is clear air, while one into a heavy supply zone can stall.
- •A close back below the breakout level undoes the idea, so use it as the stop reference. This scan has not been back-tested for an edge.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is this the same as the previous week high?
No. It uses the last five daily candles, a rolling week, not the Monday to Friday week.
Why 1.2x volume?
A breakout on above-average volume shows more participation than one on thin trading.
Can I use it on intraday charts?
Yes. Switch the interval to 15m or 1h and the scan checks the last five candles of that interval.
