Open = Low (Buy Side)
Today's open is the day's low and price is trading above it, so buyers have held the stock up since the first trade. Liquid stocks only (Rs 5 Cr+ traded in the last session).
About This Scan
Open = Low means a stock has not traded below its opening price all day: the first print is the low and every dip has been bought. This scan lists liquid NSE stocks whose daily open equals the daily low and whose latest candle closes above that open. It reads the official daily candle, so the open and low are the ones on a daily chart, and it re-evaluates with every new candle. Use it as an intraday buy-side watch-list. Its mirror, Open = High (Sell Side), lists the opposite.

How To Use This Scan
- •Mind the time of day. Early in the session many stocks have open = low by chance, so the list is longest in the first hour and shrinks as dips appear. Stocks still on the list at midday have held for longer.
- •Narrow the list with a second rule: a gap above yesterday's high, price above VWAP or a volume spike keeps only the strongest opens.
- •The idea is invalid the moment price trades below the open, which gives you a clear stop reference. This scan has not been back-tested for an edge.
Frequently Asked Questions
What does open = low mean in stocks?
The opening price is also the lowest price of the day so far. Price has not traded below the open, so buyers absorbed every dip.
Is open = low a buy signal?
Not on its own. It is a strength filter, and many stocks show it early in the session by chance. Confirm with volume, trend and price levels before acting.
Which candle is checked against the open?
The latest completed candle on the interval you pick (5m by default). Its close must be above the daily open.
