EMA 20/100 Bearish Crossover
The 20-period EMA crosses below the 100-period EMA within the last 2 candles with price below the 20 EMA. A medium-term trend change. Liquid stocks only (Rs 5 Cr+).
About This Scan
A fast EMA crossing below a slow one is a classic trend-change trigger, and the pair sets how quick it is. The 20/100 pair is slower than 10/20 and quicker than a death cross, so it marks a medium-term turn. This scan lists NSE stocks where the 20-period EMA crossed below the 100-period EMA within the last two candles and price is below the 20 EMA, on Rs 5 Cr of last-session turnover. The mirror scan is EMA 20/100 Bullish Crossover. For other pairs, see EMA 10/20 Bearish Crossover and Death Cross 50/200.

How To Use This Scan
- •Treat the cross as the start of a trend change, not a finished trade. Look for price staying below the 20 EMA on the next candles.
- •Check the 100 EMA slope. A cross of a flat or falling 100 EMA says more than a cross of a rising one.
- •Crossovers whip in sideways markets, so look for volume and a breakdown level too. This scan has not been back-tested for an edge.
Frequently Asked Questions
Why 20 and 100?
The 20 EMA shows the short-term trend and the 100 EMA the medium-term one. A cross means the short-term trend has fallen below the medium-term one.
How is it different from the death cross?
The death cross uses the 50 and 200 averages, so it is slower and rarer. The 20/100 cross comes earlier in a turn.
Does it work on intraday charts?
Yes. Switch the interval to 15m or 1h in the screener. The default is the daily chart.
