Option Trap Indicator
Compare end-of-day price breaks beyond the largest OI walls and the writer OI changes behind them. Each session uses its nearest valid expiry.
PB · Probable Buy
A call-writer trap: the underlying closes above the maximum call OI strike. The scanner labels the price direction bullish.
PS · Probable Sell
A put-writer trap: the underlying closes below the maximum put OI strike. The scanner labels the price direction bearish.
PE · Probable Exit
A later close returns to or crosses the original trapped wall before expiry. Here, PE is an exit label; in the wall columns, PE means put options.
Understand strength, OI and underlying move
- What upgrades a trap?
- Writer OI Δ = change in OI ÷ current OI at the trapped strike. Below −10% is Explosive; below −5% is Strong; below 0% is Moderate. Zero or positive OI change is Developing.
- What does /100 mean?
- The score starts at 50, adds twice the magnitude of negative OI change in percentage points, and caps at 100. It ranks unwinding intensity; it is not a calibrated probability.
- What is underlying move?
- Percentage price movement from the signal close to the first recorded wall re-entry, expiry close or latest available close. Bearish moves reverse the sign, so positive means movement in the signal direction. This is not option P&L.
- How should I compare events?
- A symbol may trigger on several dates, so events can overlap. Follow-through uses only events with a later close. Open and completed events have different observation lengths; the percentage is not a strategy win rate.
