50 EMA Pullback Bounce (Uptrend)
In an uptrend (20 EMA above 50 EMA above 200 EMA) the candle dips to within 0.5% of the 50 EMA and closes green above it. A pullback that held the medium-term average. Liquid stocks only (Rs 5 Cr+).
About This Scan
In a healthy uptrend, pullbacks often stop near the 50-day EMA. This scan requires the trend first: the 20 EMA is above the 50 EMA, which is above the 200 EMA. It then looks for a candle whose low came within 0.5% of the 50 EMA and which closed green above it, on Rs 5 Cr of last-session turnover. That is a pullback that touched the medium-term average and held. The mirror scan is 50 EMA Rally Rejection (Downtrend). For a shallower dip, see EMA20 Pullback Uptrend.

How To Use This Scan
- •Look at how price got here. A quiet, low-volume pullback is healthier than a sharp, high-volume drop to the average.
- •The 50 EMA or the candle's low is the usual stop reference. A close below the average cancels the idea.
- •Wait for the next candle to trade above the bounce candle's high if you want more confirmation. This scan has not been back-tested for an edge.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is a 50 EMA pullback?
A temporary dip in an uptrend that reaches the 50-day exponential moving average, which many traders watch as medium-term support.
Why require the 20, 50 and 200 EMA in order?
It keeps the scan to stocks in an established uptrend. Without it the list includes stocks that are simply falling through the average.
How close must the low be to the 50 EMA?
Within 0.5% above it, or below it. The close must still be above the average on a green candle.
