Volume Shockers (3x Average Volume)
Volume at 3x or more of the stock's own average on liquid stocks (Rs 10 Cr+ traded). Something is happening: news, results, an institutional order or a breakout. Direction is up to the chart.
About This Scan
A volume shocker is a stock trading at several times its normal volume. Something is usually behind it: results, news, a block or bulk deal, an index change or a breakout. This scan lists NSE stocks whose relative volume is 3 or higher, meaning volume is at least three times the stock's own average, on turnover of at least Rs 10 Cr. The scan has no price-direction rule, so check the chart to see which side the volume is on.

How To Use This Scan
- •Open the chart and the news. Volume on a breakout above resistance is a different story from volume on a breakdown or a gap-down.
- •Look at the close. A close near the day's high on heavy volume shows buyers in control, and a close near the low shows sellers.
- •Add a direction rule, such as daily change above 2% or below -2%, to split the list into buy-side and sell-side views.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is a volume shocker?
A stock whose traded volume is far above its recent average, here at least three times. It signals unusual interest.
Does high volume mean the price will rise?
No. Volume shows interest, not direction. The same spike can come with a rally or a sell-off.
Does it update during the day?
The daily relative volume is based on the last completed daily candle. For live intraday volume bursts, use the First Candle Volume Break scans.
