Gap Up and Open = Low (Strong Open)
Opened 1% to 15% above the previous close, the open is also the day's low and price is trading above it. Buyers took control from the first trade. Liquid stocks only (Rs 5 Cr+).
About This Scan
Two strong-open signals together: the stock opened 1% to 15% above the previous close, and the open is also the day's low, so price has not traded below its first print. Buyers took control from the start. This scan lists NSE stocks meeting both rules with price above the open, on Rs 5 Cr of last-session turnover. It is rare by design and can be empty on a day the market gaps down. The mirror scan is Gap Down and Open = High. For each rule alone, see Open = Low (Buy Side) and Gap Up Stocks Today.

How To Use This Scan
- •Check the reason for the gap. A gap on results or news behaves differently from a gap with no news.
- •The open is the usual stop reference, since the idea fails if price trades below it. Gaps above 15% are skipped as likely corporate actions.
- •The list is short early and later in the day. Re-run it during the session. This scan has not been back-tested for an edge.
Frequently Asked Questions
Why combine a gap with open = low?
A gap shows demand before the open. Open = low shows it held through the session. Together they filter out gaps that were sold at once.
Why is the list sometimes empty?
On days when the market gaps down, few stocks gap up and hold their open as the low.
Which open does it use?
The official daily open, so the list is the same on every interval.
