Gap Down Stocks Today (2%+)
Stocks that opened 2% to 15% below the previous close, on liquid names (Rs 10 Cr+ traded). Reads the official daily open, so the list is the same on every interval and updates through the session.
About This Scan
A gap down happens when a stock opens below the previous day's close. This scan lists NSE stocks that opened 2% to 15% below the previous close, on turnover of at least Rs 10 Cr. It measures the gap with the official daily open, so the list is the same on the 5m, 15m, 1h and 1d intervals and stays up to date through the session. Gaps above 15% are left out because they are mostly corporate-action adjustments, and a smaller ex-date gap can still slip through, so check the news for any stock you plan to trade.

How To Use This Scan
- •A gap down shows the open, not the close. Watch the first 15 to 30 minutes: staying below the opening range suggests weakness, and recovering the gap suggests buyers stepping in.
- •Sort by how far the stock is from its previous close and check the reason: results, news, sector move or a market-wide sell-off.
- •Add rules such as price below VWAP or close below the day's open to focus on gaps that are holding. Its mirror is Gap Up Stocks Today.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is a gap down in stocks?
A stock opens lower than its previous close, so no trades happen between the two prices. The gap size is measured as a percent of the previous close.
Does a gap down always continue?
No. Some gaps hold and extend, and others fill. This scan only lists the gaps. The Gap Down Reversal scans look at recoveries.
Why 2% to 15%?
Below 2% is routine noise for most stocks. Above 15% is mostly splits, bonus issues and other corporate actions rather than a real opening move.
