Options market pulse dashboard

Options Pulse provides an overview of options positioning and activity, including available PCR, OI, volume and mover summaries. It helps decide which underlying or contract deserves a closer look in the dedicated analysis tools.

Check the data time and scope, then open the relevant chain to examine strikes, expiries and price context behind an aggregate reading. A market-wide ratio can hide opposing moves between contracts. Treat regime labels as summaries of selected inputs rather than instructions to buy, sell or expect a specific price path.

What is options market pulse?

A consolidated live strip of the options market's key aggregates — PCR, total OI, volume and biggest movers — designed to answer the opening question of every session: is the options market calm, expanding or stressed, before any deeper analysis begins.

How often does the pulse update?

Continuously during NSE market hours, with each panel's timestamp confirming freshness; outside hours it holds the latest session's closing state.

Understanding Options Pulse

Options Pulse provides a comprehensive real-time view of how institutional activity evolves throughout the trading day. By tracking OI changes, max pain shifts, PCR movements, ATM IV, straddle premiums, and volume dynamics, traders can identify building pressure, model price levels, and market sentiment shifts before they happen.

Key Charts Explained

OI Change Chart

Shows Call OI Change (red bars) and Put OI Change (green bars) per interval - how much OI changed in that time period. Rising put OI indicates bullish sentiment.

Max Pain Chart

Tracks how the max pain strike evolves during the day. Price often gravitates toward max pain as expiry approaches. Watch for convergence.

Open Interest Chart

Displays total Call OI (red line) and Put OI (green line) over time. Helps identify sentiment and potential support/resistance levels.

PCR Chart

Compares PCR OI, PCR OI Change, and PCR Volume over time alongside the underlying. Values above 1 show more put-side activity than call-side activity for the corresponding metric.

Volume Chart

Shows Call Volume (red bars) and Put Volume (green bars) traded per interval. High volume confirms price moves; divergence signals potential reversals.

ATM IV Chart

Tracks At-The-Money Implied Volatility over time. Rising IV suggests increasing uncertainty; falling IV indicates market stability. Key for premium pricing decisions.

Straddle & VWAP Chart

Shows ATM Straddle Premium with VWAP overlay. Compare current straddle price to VWAP to identify fair value. Useful for straddle/strangle traders and premium sellers.

Trading with Options Pulse

  • OI Buildup: Watch for sustained OI buildup on one side. Heavy put writing often creates support, while heavy call writing creates resistance.
  • Max Pain Tracking: If max pain shifts significantly during the day, it indicates changing institutional positioning. Price often follows.
  • PCR Extremes: Very high PCR (> 1.5) can indicate overbought conditions, while very low PCR (< 0.7) may signal oversold levels.
  • IV Expansion/Contraction: Rising ATM IV before events signals expected volatility. Falling IV after events creates premium decay opportunities.
  • Straddle vs VWAP: When straddle premium trades below VWAP, it may be undervalued. Above VWAP suggests overpriced premiums.
  • Divergence: When price moves in one direction but OI/PCR suggests opposite sentiment, potential reversal may be near.
