About This Scan

NR7 — the narrowest range in seven days — is the classic volatility-compression setup. This scan adapts it with ATR: today's range is compressed far below average while the stock holds above its 50-day EMA. Compression precedes expansion; these coiled setups often release hard.

Scan Rules

Stock passes all of the below filters in the ALL segment using 1D candles:

  1. 1.Candle Range % less than or equal to 1.2
  2. 2.Range Vs ATR less than or equal to 0.65
  3. 3.Close greater than EMA 50

How To Use This Scan

  • Buy the break of the NR7 candle's high; sell the break of its low — the range itself is the trigger.
  • NR7 inside a trend (this scan's filter) breaks in the trend's direction far more often.
  • If the break doesn't come within three sessions, the edge decays — move on.
